Hit List

A "hit" is a document in a database that satisfies your query.  Patentwatcher™ will display a list of hits for a query:

PatentWatcher™ displays the hit list (search results) in a in familiarly-styled and convenient Windows® dialog.  The dialog contains a list box with two columns for each patent and published application that satisfies your query.  The first column contains patent numbers and published application numbers.  The second column contains patent and published application titles.

This dialog lets you retrieve any or all of the patents and published applications in the hit list.  To retrieve a single document, select it and use the Get Document command.  As a short cut, you can both select and retrieve the document in one step by double clicking it.

If you want more than one but less than all of the documents, you can select multiple documents.  To select multiple documents that are not all next to each other in the list, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking additional documents anywhere in the list one at a time.  To rapidly select all documents in a contiguous range within the list, hold down the Shift key while clicking the first and then the last document in the range.

When retrieving a single document, PatentWatcher™ displays it to your screen.  The display dialog lets you save the document to local storage if desired.

When retrieving multiple documents (but less than all), PatentWatcher™ gives you the option of displaying them to your screen one at a time or saving them to local storage without displaying them to screen.  The Save As dialog lets you specify the location where the documents will be saved.

When retrieving all documents, PatentWatcher™ saves them to local storage without displaying them to screen.
